Guy from work (Chevy/GMC diesel 5-er) had trouble before he got out of Missouri. Fuel filter plugged up. He got that fixed and bought a spare. He was in a remote area along I80 in Nevada and broke down again. No cell service but someone stopped and gave him a lift I think. They were towed into the next town and the wrecker placed their rig in the local RV park. Local stealership said it would be days before they could get to it but refereed them to a local mechanic. Turns out the fuel line was pinched by the fuel tank during production.
I would fix everything and head out a week later.
