The folks I feel sorry for

Are the ones who take a cruise to alaska, then the train to the cruise lines' hotel and then fly back home and tell everybody they've seen Alaska! We just spent the whole summer cruising around Alaska and don't feel like we came even close to seeing all of it. We got to meet some great people that we never would have seen in the hotel, and experience a lot of things that were unique to Alaska. I'm too old now to be able to see everything, but I'm going back to see and experience more!
  • They are probably the same bunch you see on tour buses in the western parks. They ride for hours to get to the park. The bus drives a loop road, stops at a couple of pullouts and lets them out for 10 minutes. They rush to the scenic overlook, get some cellphone selfies with the park in the background and jump back on the bus. By the time the bus leaves the park they may have spent an hour on the ground. They don't walk any trails, see little wildlife but they have 'been to the park'. They can check it off their bucket list.
