The FORM

that allows you to transport firearms across Canada.

Canada firearm import declaration

Read the whole thing, fill it out properly
Hand it to the border guard as you pull into the gate and follow orders from them.

Many folks here believe there is a problem carrying firearms across Canada. Do it properly = no problem.

Want to take a prohibited weapon into Canada.... you will have a problem.

The Canadian Government has decided that these calibers are the favorite of the Saturday Night Specials. Thus the restriction on barrel length too, How or why they decided that is not known.

Simple answer is, there is no simple answer on what gun you can take into Canada. NO hand guns, No AR rifles (if they might look like a AR
then no). The only safe guns are wood shotguns and hunting rifles. The gun laws here make no sense.

And no CCW dont even think of trying to conceale carry. Out of 36Mil people there are only 186 CCW lic.

We would love to have you visit, but you might want to leave your guns at home, or mail them ahead.

Did you notice? This is the form you fill out to carry a permitted firearm across Canada. Has nothing to do with CC or importing the firearm.

The simple answer is,, comply with the Canadian LAW.

NO Hand guns?? I wonder why your government placed this in the regulations?

    A restricted firearm is:
A handgun that is not a prohibited firearm.

Any hand gun that has over 4.25" barrel and not a 25 or 32 cal is permitted. and there is a place on the form to list these handguns .

yea... but then you have the very much more common 22 caliber guns, both handguns and rifles in an incredible variety of styles.

I am wondering if it is just one of those old forgotten laws that just stays on the books.

I believe it's not the ammo but the hand gun that would use that ammo. I think it is typically for guns with barrels under 3" but I am not certain.

    Yea, that's odd. I haven't seen a 25 or 32 in, well, decades.
