I ride in Nebraska in the summer and the Keys in the winter. A lot of the Keys riders are rentals. But most "bikers" I see use 2 fingers, pointing down or out---meaning "keep 2 wheels down". I even use 3 fingers for the 3 wheel folks.
As far as waving from the RV---If I can thumb through a Good Sam campground guide on the steering wheel, you guys should be able to manage a wave.
