The drug cartel criminal activity is well hidden.Usually it would be rare for us RVers to run across. But actually they are just about everywhere.
I like to mingle with the locals in Mexico and get to know them and their towns. I am of Mexican decent and speak fluent Spanish. Just today I was speaking with a good friend of mine here who is a local. He filled me in on the local politics or should I say the local Cartel. Here they are the Zetas and the local police are under their supervision. The business in town pay protection fee. Our friends who rent a house here, same one for two years. They had the cartel staying there this summer. We had a shooting for the Mexican Revolution Day Nov. 20th in the Plaza. I personally was not there but our friends were. It was said to be Cartel related. The army showed up and restored order.
When we were in Troncones we not only new the area was loaded with Cartel, we saw them with their weapons and protection.
Even with my knowledge of what is really happening in Mexico unlike most tourist I my family and friends still venture around Mexico.
I have a lot of stories, you may or may not believe but trust me the Cartels are for real! Stay out of their way and they will do the same.
