clarklk - I think you are speaking more for yourself than from facts - http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/05/31/recovery-boomers-send-rv-sales-roaring-back The "new generation" is not the generation that has ever bought RVs. I could not have imagined owning one at 25. Before you can spend the money on an RV you need the time to use it and that means retirement for most folks. The huge baby boomer generation now retiring will provide very strong sales for the industry.
Mexican fuel prices are less than in the states and the RV lifestyle is entirely different than staying in cheap hotels. The social benefits, the continuity of your bed, pillows, cooking ability, etc. make these lifestyles different enough to not even be compared.
Now, if you are truly living in Mazatlan I would agree that an apartment or condo makes more sense long term.
