Tahoenow: Kevin your quote on the RV market was for the USA. Yes more RV's are being sold but almost none of those new RV'rs travel to Mexico in an RV. AS for fuel prices the US has lower or the same prices as Mexico. I really do not think any of us go to Mexico to save $$. Try this experiment. Right now is prime Snowbird season in AZ. Go to any snowbird park in Mesa and talk to the residents. Ask them if they would like to visit Mexico. You will find a few who go on junkets to PP. (Or perhaps after that helicopter gunship episode they no longer travel to PP). Their idea of a visit to Mexico is to cross on foot to Algadones and buy medicine and eyeglasses. For the last 3 years we have gone to Quartzsite and Yuma for a few weeks in our MH. When we visit with people in the park they cannot understand why we would live and travel in Mexico. The comments are almost like the posters we get on this forum: Too dangerous. I heard people get shot, Don't you get sick from the food and water? So much to see in the USA why would I go to Mexico? The odd person will listen to us tell happy stories about our travels. So where will Mexico get new RV travelers? At one time I thought that running an inexpensive one week Caravan to Mexico would bring in new blood. I was naïve. A good example of what has happened is Celestino. I thought this would become an RV haven. They built a bunch of nice spaces in 3 or 4 parks and they are almost all empty. In one park there were about 10 regulars. None of those people have returned to Mexico. General tourism in Mexico is at an all time high. Not just Canadians and Americans but Europeans. (The cartels are building resorts to tap into that lucrative market). Where are all the RV'rs that filled Mazatlan? Just a few years ago if you wanted a space in Mar Rosa one had to park on the street and wait for a space. Last year they had less than 50% occupancy Where are the 20 or so units that were regulars @ Mr. Moros in Las Glorios. That park was deserted 2 years ago and is now closed. Mochis had 2 parks that were at least half full with overnighters and those going to the Copper Canyon. One park is closed and the other has such a bad reputation for petty theft that no one will stay there. While all these parks are suffering Canadians sick of the cold weather are flying to Maz and PV by the 10's of thousands . From reading this forum there are some bright spots further south and inland but not enough to replace those who have either died or do not return to Mexico. This time of year there is usually a thread with posts from regulars in the various regions reporting on occupancy. Perhaps RV'rs will report soon. We hope to be on the road in about 16 days so we will see for ourselves.
