Timing through Yellowstone?

As we would love to stay a few in the Tetons we just can't! Got a business to run at home and being gone 3 weeks is really pushing it to say the least! We are just going to be happy passing by so we can see the beautiful area! Thank you all for your input!! :)

I agree, I just got back, and enjoyed my three days in the Tetons, and Jackson more than YS
Breakfast at Signal Mountain lodge was great, Jackson was too, and traffic was not as bad. I can't imagine how YS would be in June through August.

Since you will be in West Yellowstone, the quickest and easiest way will be the longer way of taking 191 back up to I90 then I25 down to I80. 191 to I90 is mostly down hill and you go around most of the other ridges so relatively smooth.

While going through Yellowstone, Tetons, and 287 down to I80, it is only 100 miles shorter and will not save any time. Could cost time depending on how many buffalo jams you hit going through Yellowstone.

However, the route through Yellowstone and Grand Tetons would be prettier.

Comes down to easier longer drive via interstate or seeing some more country while traveling nice non-interstate roads.

We are not staying in Yellowstone but at Yellowstone Holiday campground in West Yellowstone MT. We will be departing from there.

Excellent route and a stop in Lander for Sinks Canyon SP...one of the best small visitor centers and the river going underground and then back up `1/2 mile away is interesting.

Can't recommend places to stop and eat other than fast food as that's what we do en route, if we don't eat what we've got.

For food, we normally do too stop at fast food or eat what we have but sometimes its nice to stop at interesting places where we've never been to before! That's why I always ask anyway! :)

I just found this site - Find Fuel Stops . Check it out. Enter your starting city and ending, along with the route and it lists all the truck stops in between.

How is this route? From what I see it looks good road wise for our diesel pusher but how about diesel fuel options, good campgrounds, good places to stop and eat?

Roadwise - definitely good. Diesel can be found in Dubois, WY and along that route in Lander and I think it was Sweetwater Station, out in the middle of nowhere that there was a gas station. As for campgrounds, we've only stayed at Falls CG off the Togwotee Pass - many big rig sites and in Dubois at the KOA. Lander is pretty good sized so I'm sure there's something there. Can't recommend places to stop and eat other than fast food as that's what we do en route, if we don't eat what we've got.
