Titusville, Pa to Geneva, OH route advice

Question

Looking for advice on a route from Titusville, Pa to Geneva, OH. Mapping tools seem to be suggesting going North on Rt 8 to catch Interstate 90 just below Erie, PA.

We drive a Class C and pull a Taurus X, and we're wondering if a route west using Pa Rt. 27 to catch Rt 79 at Meadville, Pa., and then get on Rt 90 outside Erie?

It's tempting, but I'm concerned that the two lane Rt 27 won't make it worth while in the long run...

I would take Rt 27 to Meadville, then Rt 6 through Conneaut Lake and Linesville into Ohio before turning north.  Unless you drive 70 mph on the interstates I don't think going north to Erie then south along the lake is going to save you a lot a time.
