Traffic around Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel?

Yup, Been to stingrays a few times over the years and I'm planning on hitting it up for late lunch or dinner before we head over the bridge.

We already booked First Landing even though it's a bit off route. But being that my next day check in is at 1pm in the OBX and looks to be a 3 hour drive. I have plenty of time and will be in no rush.

Going south, that shouldn't be much of a problem for the next few months. The sun will be setting up in the direction of Baltimore...

Enjoy your stay at First Landing. We love it there and have stayed there many times. Its one of my all-time favorite campgrounds.

Thanks folks for the advice. I wound up going with first landing mainly because they had a couple long sites left compared to Kiptopeke. I was hoping to overnight without unhooking the truck from the trailer.

We have gone over the Bridge/Tunnel many times between 4-6PM. The traffic on the bridge is never that heavy. However, US-60 to First Landing does get rush hour traffic and there is a draw bridge that can back things up. If you are just stopping for the night, Kiptopeke is closer to your route. Getting to US-17 or staying on US-13 once over the bridge is pretty straight forward using the interstates. Sting Rays on US-13 not too far from Kiptopeke has always had decent seafood if you don't want to cook after arrival.

From First Landing, you either have to back track to where you got off US-13 or drive through town to get going South again.
