Turning in your FMM

This has been discussed beforeand many of us thought that because they have computerized the forms you should stop and turn in your FMM when leaving. I think we are all wrong. Ours were expired by 3 days but we stopped to return them anyway. The Migra guy looked at me as if I was nuts. They were folded and he took them and stamped the back. Then threw them into a box. He never looked at the face of the permit. Nor did he give us a receipt of any kind. No info was entered into the computer nor did he ask for our passports. I would bet they get tossed ! BTW. If a few units arrive there is no place to park on the Northbound side of the highway!!

  • But if they do not give you a receipt the system is flawed ! You have no way of proving that it was returned. And if you say it was turned in they have no way of proving you wrong. I will have a better idea next fall as I know a few who do not return the forms.

  • I mail mine back! Figure the buck & half to the USPS is the easiest way to return it.
  • I bet they don't. I say that because at the Reynosa Hidalgo crossing and the Nuevo Laredo Colombia crossing, immigration agents are tasked with doing data entry. I wouldn't be surprised that upon return, there might be a chance of a fine for late return or nothing at all. Each crossing is different just like in the U.S. and each reports to a person who does things differently.
