Utah 12 Bryce to Torrey

Well Utah 12 was a good warmup for the million dollar highway in Colorado, which we did today. :)

I many times have voiced concern due to inexperienced drivers (as we learned when living in Estes Park, CO) coming against you and taking their half out of the middle. Let's see - it is two lane, little to no shoulder, no guard rail and straight down both sides --- and someone coming against you taking a third of your lane.

My suggestion - assuming you are going at at slower / cautious speed is to simply stop in your lane - right in the center of it. They will have room to pass safely and you just have to force them to do it.

DO NOT try to move over way to the right; not a good plan.

Hopefully you will not run in to people like that and the odds are in your favor.

The hogback is only a 1/2 mile long. I couldn't believe how short it was after all the comments I read about it about before I drove rt 12. My truck and trailer are 53 ft and we had zero troubles on 12. Your class C will be fine. The scenery is spectacular. Hopefully I will do again one day.

The "hogback" is the best part -- the twisty narrow road with no shoulders and steep cliffs on both sides means that you have great views in every direction, or at least your passenger does.

That poor hog must've had some serious spinal problems, though. ;)

Seriously, it is a fine road -- we had no problem towing a trailer on it.

We did it in our 43ft MH pulling a pickup-- no problem and lots of fun

We did it, just fine. There are about six 8 percent grades and two 10 percent ones. Eastbound they were all downhill, yet you do climb a few thousand feet up by the midpoint.. A very scenic drive. I spent a lot of time in gears 2,3,4 out of 6.

Last February there was a landslide just east of the park that reduced traffic to one lane. But I imagine that's been fixed by now. Still, you can check the Bryce Canyon park website as well as Utah state DOT.

it's a memorable drive, with a hogback you won't forget. :) At Boulder, there is a small but interesting museum and display of the Anazazi culture with a small picnic area...good place for a lunch break.

I think just about every rental RV rented out in the west ends up on this road at one time or other. Very well traveled route by RVers of all skill levels. Normal width lanes and road, but there is a section without any shoulders and steep slopes which gives some concerns. It's just physiological as most don't find staying in their lane to be an issue on most roads. I love the area and try to get down there to explore at least once a year.

We love this highway! We had driven it several times with a 27' Class C towing a Jeep Wrangler. We drove it again last year (east bound) in our 39' DP towing a Jeep Grand Cherokee
