- clikrf8ExplorerNot sure about 130 as have only driven parts. But, 31 is a good highway. A few summits but nothing bad. Little traffic. Watch for cows along the road. Check out Frisco ghost town which has an interesting cemetary. There is a place to park along the highway with a dilapidated shelter. We spent the night at the ghost town. Very quiet. You won't be able to drive in to the town with your 5 er but can walk in. The cemetery is found by taking the road to the left. The town is to the right. There is a gated road warning about no trespassing as there is some sort of project happening. .
- kopy_katExplorerJust drove this route-very good road!
Easy to cruise along at 60-65 mph-mostly straight with some curves.
Thanks for all the replies.
Larry - 4runnerguyExplorerGood road. Little traffic. There's the ghost town of Frisco part way along if you want a place to get out and stretch your legs.
- agesilausExplorer IIIYou can get way out in the middle of nowhere out on those roads. We started on 21 near the park and headed south on dirt roads in our old 'burb. Saw a sign pointing to cougar spar pass and took that road. We drove about 15 or 20 miles and came up on a bedraggled bunch of teenagers hiking out there on the dirt road. They had a hand cart loaded up with gear but all had full backpacks. This was probably July and it was hot. Finally saw a few adults at the head of the group and it turned out to be an Outward Bound troop. Those kids didn't look happy heh. Looking on Google now I see there are a number of springs out there so they were heading for one of them.
There was nothing on that road, we followed it for another 20-25 miles and got up in the mountains on the Nevada border. Turned around, ended up going thru Lund which isn't even a whistle stop and ended up in Milford right as it got dark. We were happy to see civilization again. - ReneeGExplorerWe drove 21 years back after visiting Great Basin and heading to Albuquerque. At that time we drove an F250 V10 towing a 32' Comfort TT and we had no problem. We filled up in Baker at a self serve Sinclair station before leaving. We were basically alone on the entire stretch and it was beautiful, to us. Vistas like you wouldn't believe. Of course, being boondockers, we kept our eye out for possibilities.
I found this link at Mile by Mile's website, which will give you an idea of the road. - agesilausExplorer IIIIts been awhile but I believe those roads mainly follow the valleys. However that is empty desolate country. Get fueled up in Milford.
- diazr2ExplorerI sure hope so I will be traveling that in June. I am pretty certain the roads are good. I traveled them years ago and they were pretty nice. I have a 24ft fiver
