Va16 from Volney to Marion

I am currently camping at Grayson Highlands State Park. I am leaving tomorrow and need to get to I-81 to head west. My trip planner wants to take me west on US58 over to the interstate. Others have suggested US58 east to VA16 and head north to I-81. I came in from the east on that portion of US 58 but was coming up from Charlotte.

I am in a 22' Trail-lite B+ so I don't really think I should have trouble either way, but they say 58 is 25 miles of twisty, curvy roads.

    According to The Mountain Directory, the portion of 16 you're talking about is described this way: The grades range from 5% to 8% but they are short hills. The longest is about 2 miles of 6%.

    Yes, I have the Mountain Directory. I know what 16 is like. My daughter came down that way. It is further out of my way than taking 58. 58 is what I don't know about. There is a vague description of it at Damascus in the directory as well.

    I took VA16. It was easy peazy. A little out of my way, but I think 58 would have been more strenuous. It has hairpins and 16 had none, and the hills are just rolling hills.
