Veterinarian..

Would like to know if any of my fellow travelers know of a really good vet in Puerto Penasco. Thanks, all.
  • As much as my dentist and doctors are in Mexico, for something like eye lid surgery, I'd go to a vet school, REALLY check out cleanliness, or just do without things in the states and get it done there.
Shots, normal stuff, ear/eye infections, no hesitation here in Mexico. Surgeries, that I had the option of scheduling, I'd do in the US if possible.
  • Vets in. Mexico may not be as well trained as those at home . We have seen several cases of misdiagnosis and just plain lack of knowledge over the Years!
It is much harder to treat animals than it is people. dogs can't talk nor can Horses or Pigs!
This despite some owners who think that they can read minds!
I have walked out of more than one Dental Office and even a Doctors Clinic due to My own observations as to cleanliness etc. your Poor Pooch doesn't get that choice!
  • My ten year old Shih Tzu has a small tumor under the edge of his eye lid. I don't want to take any unnecessary chances, but the vets here want a small fortune and
can't guarantee no infection. lc0338, I read that info on Google. Thank you.
  • Good luck. We have had to seek veterinary services all over Mexico, and have done well. Once, in a pinch, for a dog ear infection, we went to the local pharmacy, told the truth, and were given the appropriate medicine for our dog by the pharmacist.
  • Have no experience but did find this link that may be helpful: http://www.puerto-penasco.com/vetsandpets.html

here is some of the verbiage from this link:
If you are on need of veterinary services, you may want to contact the Veterinary Services and Pet Hotel located in Blvd. Sonora and Galeana which is 2 blocks off Blvd. Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez. This facility offers 24 hours emergency services. It is open 9-1pm and 4-8pm daily. Services include: emergency care, examinations, spay and neuter, dental care, check-ups, grooming, surgery, x-rays, shots, etc.. Dr. Fernando Rincon is the vet doctor for this facility.
