Please, No politics. This forum discusses Mexico & Central America. As many times as I've crossed the border I have never been asked about investments - it's a ridiculous and snarky "warning" to offer and has no place in this forum.
It is not political, it has happened to a few canadians heading south recently. It is notification of a law that few are aware of. For example recreational pot is legal in both WA state and will be in BC in couple of weeks. Admission of use, recreational or medicinal, however runs up against US federal rules and will result in the situation described, despite that. Carrying the substance itself across the border in either direction is illegal, even if one has a prescription. This is nto the case for some other restricted substances, like painkillers that are FEDERALLY legal in both countries. Admission of pot use will result in a border ban. One person was asked if she ever smoked pot in college. When she said she did once, it resulted in a ban. If you are employed by a legal medicinal marijuana opertaion in Canada, you will also be banned for life if the border finds out. The cartoon is of course an exageration to make the point. It is not unusual for the border to ask your occupation and if you are truthful that you work for a perfectly LEGAL operation in Canada and are entering a State where that is also legal, you will still be banned as it is not legal on a federal basis in the US. Until it is, the problem will exist and people need tgo be aware of that.
