- SelkieExplorerI have enjoyed People's Guide to Mexico by Carl Franz. This book has been out for quite a while. Many stories about his travels along the back roads-many humorous, also practical. Another dated, but enjoyable book is The Baja Feeling by Ben Hunter.

- briansueExplorerI forgot 1491 and 1493 by Charles Mann - compilation of amazing history.
- Turtle-ToadExplorerI could list a panga load of books about Baja, or Mexico City, or the Yucatan alone. A couple of categories (fiction, travel, historical, etc) would help. Also, are you looking for just books in English, or Spanish, or both? Do you want hard copy or are Kindle books ok? If I dig deep enough I might even be able to unearth a treasure map or two :)
PS, briansue; great list. I've read all three. - HpymilsExplorerbriansue- Thanks for pointing out the three books. I looked at the reviews and will put them on my to read book list. I generally read nonfiction but maybe I should read historical fiction about Mexico to get details of Mexican life at an individual level.
- briansueExplorerNot sure what type of book you want – story books – guide books – history books – or anything to do with Mexico? Search Amazon for titles having to do with Mexico. Off the top of my head the ones that stick in my mind are…..
Mexico by James A. Michener
The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver
Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver
