It's still undergoing major reconstruction in the Visalia/Tulare/Kingsburg area and then again in the Stockton area. Where it's 3 lanes per side, it's fine; otherwise it's still narrow for those used to Interstate-type roadways. So, in total, it's still a challenge. By the way, 99 carries more traffic than I-5 and 101 combined through the same area, and much of that is trucks.
