Which to choose through Kentucky or West Virginia

We are heading down to North Carolina from Ohio and MapQuest takes us 3 different ways. We are starting out in Xenia Ohio and ending up down at Elk Park North Carolina. We will be pulling a large 38' fifth wheel which will just not tow well through certain areas. Can my fellow RVer's give me your take, from experience, which would be the best way to go?

1st Opt (longest mileage) majority 75S.

2nd Opt (least mileage) majority route 23 through Kentucky

3rd Opt majority 77S through West Virginia

Leaning to Opt 2 & 3 as I've been down 75 enough and it is also the longest in mileage.

Any info. you can give is GREATLY appreciated!! :)

  • One of the worst interstates I've ever been on was I-77 between Charleston and Beckley, WV, AKA the West Virginia Turnpike. And to add insult to injury, they made you pay for the abuse. Narrow, curvy, hilly, bumpy, and tons of big rigs bulling their way past you. Never again for me. So I guess I'm saying I don't recommend your 3rd option. Can't speak to your other two options.
