- lbrjetExplorerYes, it is safe and a beautiful drive.
- agesilausExplorer IIIWhen you are done with Hwy 12 there is always Hell's Backbone in the same area:

Would it be safe to pull a 35ft 5th wheel on UT-12?
If not then you should park the Truck,

One of the spots we will drive a couple hundred miles to drive - Just Special. - agesilausExplorer IIIDaunting? LOL. IMO if the section of road in that picture intimidates someone they certainly have no business towing anything, probably should not be driving while not towing.

Ditto on that, what's to worry about, you have nice wide shoulders and can see around the curve. Blind curves, narrow or no shoulders, and a big drop-off are cause for caution. Hwy 12 does not qualify. - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II

We pulled a 34' fifth-wheel over Utah 12 and found it to be one of our favorite routes ever. This is a photo of the section that many find daunting. I did not experience any anxiety and would gladly follow this route again:

We were a bit surprised of course but had no problems. Of course the TT was a 20 ft popup and we were driving a 'Burb. And being from Florida we are the prototypical flatlanders. It's all in your head.
- jrs1871ExplorerWe also did the Moki Dugway this summer. It was tense enough with a CC, LB dually. I can't imagine going down that in an uranium truck or towing anything for that matter. Anything longer than what we were in and you would have to stop, backup and line up again to make most of those switchbacks. Not for the faint hearted for sure.
- fanrgsExplorerWe did it towing our fifth wheel and had no problems. There are several pull-outs where you can stop, get out, stretch, take a few photos, and relax a bit. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat, but then we live in Colorado and drive mountain roads every time we go camping.

Moki dugway...hahaha no way. We travelled that this year and it was fun...gotta wonder why one would build that road up the mesa!
