Geezo I almost had a heart attack when a large coconut landed eight or ten feet away from me at Playa del Oro, Jalisco about 40 years ago. Fast learning curve. But it was a ten foot long dead palm frond that surprised me. One landed on my neighbor's "Thing" (remember those?) in Guerrero and broke the windshield glass.
In San Blas, I saw a cute hand painted sign with a huge green coco and a red arrow pointing up. The owner of Posada Toledo a hotel told me it was enough to keep him out of jeopardy. Chango kept Flores de Las Peñas palms stripped over the sites.
Careful around loose palm debris. It's a prime scorpion haunt. And hideout for the Mexican Whip snake. They are not poisonous but unbelievably quick and bad tempered. They bite! They prey on ardillas ar-DEE-ahs. Tree squirrels.
One of my favorite evening pastimes is to watch four or five hummingbird feeders set about 10' apart. Why so many? A male bird will decide he owns them all and chases away interlopers. Fewer than four he can manage to bully. Five is over the top although he will try. Boil sugar in water until it dissolves 100% Some folks add red food coloring, I don't.
