I have to admit I get quite irritated when I know people are running generators to watch TV. I'll bet they don't even know what an inverter is.

Two of the people that ran their genny the most came and asked me about the panel, where to get it, how much, what could it do, etc.
If the question was "What can you run with that?" , how did you answer it? I get this all the time and I try to explain it charges the battery, but they don't seem to understand.
Are you kidding, we haven't camped around others in years. Give me a chance to show off my baby and you'll leave knowing more than you probably wanted to.
I explained how the system works, what the different systems were, where to get them and how to use them. They knew we kept the stat at 74 day and night, lite it up end to end and ran DVDs or the radio to drown out the gennys all day long. When asked if I could run the MW I said not yet but next season we will be able to.
They understood that we used batteries to run the rig and that the solar kept them charged. What surprised them was when the furnace went off and the battery voltage never changed. They also thought we spent a lot more than we did and that they could do the same for around $400.
as for TV, there was no reception and I didn't see any satellites. You could see the flickering light of the DVD player thru our blinds but I didn't see it in other rigs. I think they were just running their gennys to drown out the others. lol
