I really think that if you stay in a campground you get what you get. In fact- it is just obtuse and ridiculous to think people would buy an rv with a generator and then not use it if/when and as much as they want. Its their money, their vacation, their idea of camping and you make the choice to camp or not camp where a person like this may park right next to you. In other words- Those in search of solitude should never plan on getting it in a campground.
Some folks like absolute quiet when camping others like to be able to power up everything they have and live like they do at home. Who is more right? Neither-
A lot more camp spots outside of parks/campgrounds than there are in them. I suggest folks look for these type of spots rather than complain about something they can never change.
Works for us when we want that type of camping experience.
Probably the reason we were so surprised at how generators are used is because we very rarely use CGs. The last trip was 3 years ago and before that well over a decade. There is more to the boonies than just solitude, quiet and no rules.
I'm also a big believer in that everyone camps differently and only they need to get it. If they want to leave the generator running 24/7 in case they want to hit a switch, so be it. We will just go mid week and avoid them. :)
