We have a generator, but we have only used it once on a camping trip, and now we never take it with us (it's a quiet one). We don't need it.
We charge our DVD player and cell phones in the car when needed.
I do have happy news to report. I stayed in the Yosemite Valley twice this summer, and almost no one used their generator. Yosemite Valley campgrounds have a very limited generator use policy and asks that people run them for 45 minutes or less during specified hours.
In the summer, campfires are only allowed from 5pm to 10pm, and then they have to be put dead out with water.
There were people walking through our campground constantly, but at least tney were quiet.
We could hear the birds, see the granite walls of the Valley clearly, and thoroughly enjoyed our days there.
