The point was made that the nature of RV camping has changed dramatically over 50 years, and I agree with this. From time to time I talk with the Rangers at State Park CGs, and their #1 imperative (within budget constraints) is building out electric hookups for RVs--there is that much demand. Fifty years ago, state parks were designed for tent campers, with room to park their cars. Today, the RVs are pushing out the tent campers.
It is almost unheard-of for a new State Park to be built, yet many are building out improved hookups for RVs. In time (probably too late for any of us) it wouldn't surprise me if most State Parks had full hookups and did not allow generators--even Hondas!
Five years ago on this Forum, "considerate campers" bought Honda gennies and ran them all night if they cared to. These good people felt that generator hours did not apply to "quiet" gennies. Although I'm sure those people still lurk here, they don't post that kind of "me first" attitude. That shows me times are changing still.
If a park wants to ban generators--or severely restrict their hours--I'm fine with that. I'll either comply with the rules or not camp there at all. If that park offers hookups, there's no need for a generator any way. In the mean time--well, you know.
Okay, Lucius!
