The TT we had did not have a 12 volt connection (and we had no inverter). But our motorhome has a 32" flat panel that will run on 12 volt and still no inverter. If we use it (and other 12v items), then we will eventually need to run the generator to recharge the batteries. It's just a matter of how often and what we use. The last I looked, solar panels were not offered as a choice over generators in motorhomes. And I believe every motorhome (at least around here) is delivered with a genny. I guess you could custom order one without a genny and have them add solar, but I imagine that uncommon change would be a little costly. If we did nothing but boondock all the time, then I might would invest the couple of thousand of dollars to have enough solar to run our rv on days end (minus the a/c which we need when we do most of our camping) to not change our lifestyle. Otherwise, I might as well just take a tent and sleeping bag.
