While I value Air Conditioning second only to oxygen (and please don't make me choose), I must admit that most of the job of the a/c is to overcome the solar-cooking effect of our enclosed RVs. In most climates the same air space under a shady awning (and no walls) can be cooled with a fan, at 1% of the power consumption.
That said, I have no doubt that 100 degrees in Alberta is somewhat less onerous than 100 degrees in Texas.
If it were not for the power needs of my electric Poodle Robot, I could easily get by with the 630w of solar sitting on my roof. After all, I sized the solar (and my 660 ah battery bank), just so I could run my 6k btu (tiny) air conditioner during peak sun hours without firing up my gennie. In off hours a fan is all I need, as long as I don't have significant western exposure, allowing the setting sun to continue to cook my TT right up to the moment it sets.
