Campgrounds are pretty scarce north of Baton Rouge, and the opposite direction from your goal, but.... there’s a pretty nice campground (Legacy RV Park) at St Francisville. It’s not fancy, with lots of amenities, but offers a nice place to park and good access to the areas sights. If time is “not” a problem, this may be an option to add to the trip. It’s a beautiful area with many homes/ plantations on the National Registry, some of which you can tour. There’s also, Jackson and Clinton with some historical interests. Lots of very pretty, but narrow, roads to travel! Even if you can’t stay in the area, consider passing thru on your way back ti Illinois.
