Advise camping near New Orleans French Quarter?

We have stayed many times in Ponchatrain Landing RV Resort in New Orleans but it is not cheap. Are there any other rv parks near the French Quarter. How far away are? Anything would help.

X2 for Bayou Segnette. We stayed there for a week a month or so back and it worked out great! The ferry is about a 20 minute drive from the park. Cost is $5.00 or $10.00 per day for parking, and $2.00 per person each way for the ferry. Runs every 30 minutes, and drops you at the ferry terminal where the French Quarter and Arts District meet. Beats the heck out of fighting the traffic into the city, and then paying for parking.

As for the park, it's a good campground at a very reasonable price. We'll definitely stay there again next time we want to spend time in NOLA.
  • Have a look at the French Quarter RV Resort (http://www.fqrv.com/) or click: FQ RV Resort

ONLY $105 / night - higher for special events!!
  • we have stayed at KOAs on the west side of town, a trolley takes you down town, and in Slidel.
    bumpy
  • If you are in a tow vehicle or toad or even small class C...I would park further out to get a better and cheaper place, then drive from RV park to Algiers ferry terminal and ride across. Short walk to French qtr.

  • We stayed in Jude rv park on the west side not far from Ponchitrain Landing. Small place on main road in possible questionable area. They have a shuttle to the French Qtr $5PP. Very nice owners good bathrooms. Great crawfish boil on Easter Sunday. No fancy amenities like pool etc however, it's only $35 per night (Easter weekend). Some noise from RR freight yard at back, but not terrible. We'd would stay there again.
