French Quarter RV Resort - New Orleans

Most times i go to NOLA you have to park 7 blocks away to find an open spot anyway. Ive always walked and never encountered any major issues, be prepared to be offered many illegal drugs on multiple occasions. Just a simple no and keep walking always works.

We had no issues walking from FQRV to the quarter... both day and night. Police station is right across the street. It is about 2 blocks to the quarter... your 7 blocks is probably to Bourbon St.

If daylight, I would walk half mile and "do" the French Quarter. I would then take a cab back to the RV Park. The cab fare should not cost as much as several hours of parking fees.

I thought that they previously would take you down in a golf cart? has that changed? I wouldn't walk back at night myself.

Here's the scoop on travel in Nawlins. You can hop on and off all day and night for $5.00/day. Cheaper than parking, easier and safer than walking and a lot of fun.

Stayed there last year and walked to Bourbon St. both in day and night. No problems at any time. You just have to be alert of your surroundings.

please define "be alert of your surroundings". I step out of a business on bourbon st. it is dark. what exactly am I looking for? it is a 7 block walk and I can't really tell what is happening 6 blocks away. some people have walked thru mine fields and lived to tell about it. I have seen a gentleman who at a convention in a large city started to walk 2 blocks to a restaurant and got waylaid enroute. he had broken glasses, cuts and bruises all over. was he brave? no he was stupid, JMHO.

Surprisingly, when I looked at this link and zeroed in on the FQRv/French Quarter route, here was no criminal activity indicated. Not trying to say that there was none. It just means none is reported.

Not trying to be adversarial, but "be alert of your surroundings" means just that. Don't walk around like a tourist. The "local populous" that have malice in their mind, pick up on that real quick.

The Inner Harbor in Baltimore has way more crime than the area in NOLA that we are talking about. And that is because the pilgrims walk around in a daze, texting with their iPhones, with expensive cameras hung around their necks, flashing a lot of cash, and getting a little too drunk in the area bars. The criminals pick on the softest targets among these folks. Just looking less like a pilgrim then everyone else goes a long way into not ending up a victim.

that's because the tourism council always drags the bodies out of that area so as not to scare tourists. As I said, I have talked to and seen people that have been mugged strolling down cit streets where they shouldn't be. I'd spend the $2-5 or whatever to taxi back myself. but did they stop their golf cart taxi service?
