In previous threads on this subject, I pointed out that that was recommended by the resort. Folks fussed at me saying it is not so.
and I certainly agree with a previous post recommending that you be alert of your surroundings. When I step out of a business on Bourbon St., and check out my surroundings looking North towards the campground I am aware that the first 2 blocks are well lit, then the last 5-6 are pitch black and not far from an area that could be considered to be crime ridden. thus I checked on my surroundings and decided to take a taxi. :s
