Excellent suggestions here. FYI: Mt. Cheaha IS the highest point in Alabama. Oak Mtn. gets mixed reviews from RVPR... It depends upon the section of the CG you're in.
Once you have your fill of mountains — and it gets a bit warmer! — head down to Alexander City and Wind Creek State Park... Bring your boat(s)! It's right on Lake Martin (of the "famed" Acapulco Rock jumping off point) with 44,000 acres of water, you can fish and boat and wakeboard and ski your guts out! The park has been renno'd to include a new batch of FHU/50A waterfront sites! I think if you sweet talk the hosts a bit, you can get a site at which you can tie up your boat... right out the front door to your rig!
