Its easy to get caught up in membership tactics, the same as the camp has to deal with. Amenity and occupancy fees are not always flexible by the property .
Conditions beyond control of the end provider of service are no reason to flame that provider for a suppliers failure.
Case in point, if you have ever been denied a Good Sam 10% discount on daily posted rates, regardless of special event or whim, Good Sam will refund you the discount and take action on the park. Provide proof with a registration reciept.
I have found 1 item in this diatribe that is inflexible in all states and provinces is upcharge of utility.
In every government jurusdiction I know of, a lessor cannot profit from sub metering utility from a lessee.

The park was not charging a metered rate. They were merely charging a surcharge for an additional amenity, in that case an electrical connection or possibly a 50 amp connection. I imagine your park charges a different fee for dry camping vs having utility hookups. That does not fall under any state prohibition against upcharging utility rates. Those laws come into play if there was metered electricity (and possibly metered water or gas) and the park was charging based on usage. That was not the case in Ken56's example. No laws were broken in Ken56's example and there is no reason to send them off to check the state regulations.

You are talking an entirely different story with Passport America. Very common with Passport America. You have to read the "Notes" section at the bottom of the listing for the additional fees.

if you are being charged for things extra, but they are not open/useable, then you need to report that to Passport America.

Many would not have the integrity to admit they may have reacted too soon and judged the CG unfairly.

I totally agree with the last couple of posters comments. Again, I feel things were equitable and agree that its not always the parks "fault" as to the charges, but I feel Pride was not out of line in their charges so, again, I say don't cross this park off of your list of potential parks to stay at because of my hasty post. It did take talking to 2 different people to get to the bottom of the charges but all was made clear in the end. So at this point lets just let this thread die. Happy camping.

SO you used C2C which was $10/per night PLUS $5 'creek side site' PLUS $5 'utility fee' (which is probably noted in the C2C Directory) and then a $5 'amenity fee' for Total of $25/night (PA rate was $27.50/night) and regular rate is $41/night.

Sounds like a pretty decent deal other than the amenity fee because the amenities were not available.
But hey...$25/night and you got same as those paying $41/night or even the PA Rate of $27.50/night.

Before making reservations you can go to CG information site (on C2C website) and it will list the various fees/extras if applicable)

Usually extra for 50A service, sometimes extra for sewer, sometimes a resort fee, cable if available etc. But still C2C $10/night discount rate and some fees you still getting cheap camping site compared to others in same park.....worked for us for 7yrs FT.

We've never stayed at Prides, but we have stayed many time right next door at Creekwood Farm. So you have a good choice in that region.

Here's a list by state of states that have a sales tax as well as a lodging tax. Might as well gouge the people that are just passing thru. :)
