Anyone else irked by chain parks that seem to think cable and internet are not necessary amenities? I don't go camping to watch TV but I do like to watch the news with my morning coffee and check my interests on the internet at least once a day. Places that have heavily wooded sites and are far enough out not to have over the air TV should, in my opinion, have both hookups (I don't complain about trees blocking my sat system as long as I can get cable). If I want to remove myself from civilization I'll dry camp at some state or nat park. If that's all I wanted to do I wouldn't have spent money on an RV and would be in a tent. Everyone has their own preference but if a place touts itself as a "resort", I expect facilities. What do you think about this? Am I over reaching?

I agree. We like to get a few channels with OTA or cable. Our coach has built-in WiFi so we have Internet service 99% of the time. I guess I could stream movies but I'm not too techie.Bottom line, if a place calls themselves a resort, they should offer amenities.MM.

I think you are off base. I never have made a decision on where to stay based on cable or wifi.I have a hot spot and if I need info I will use that to get the info I need including weather

Yes you are over reaching. When has cable and or internet been required for camping?It's nice to have but not a prerequisite. Lot's of COE and state parks should close immediately.Resort is a merely a marketing term. It does not guarantee certain amenities.Dig a bit deeper or make a phone call to ensure the amenities you require are offered.Where does the resort label end? Pool, Dog Park, on site restaurant, full hookups,Laundry, hot tub, spa,free shuttle,campfires where does it end?

Bottom line, if a place calls themselves a resort, they should offer amenities.

Do they advertise that they have what you want, and then it isn't available when you get there? If you know in advance then what's the problem? All amenities are not available at all campgrounds/RV parks. If you feel they are necessary for you to enjoy your time out, then you need to pick ones that cater to what you desire.

If one were to extend your "logic" then all campground/RV parks should have lots of playgrounds/pools/activities for kids, because many people look for that in the campgrounds they frequent.

I don't like RV resorts or chain parks nor do I want to go back to tent camping. I'm happy at BLM, USFS etc. campsites. If OTA TV, internet and radio is available, great. If not, that's ok also. I pick campsites for beauty and view.

If a campground is far enough out to not have over the air TV available, they're probably also far enough out to not have cable available and perhaps also to have limited internet service available...without paying a significant sum of money to get the infrastructure there.

Personally, if I'm camping, watching TV or diddling on the internet are pretty far down on my list of things to do. NPR / BBC news is at least as good as most TV news networks, in my opinion, and may be more readily available in far-flung places (but in other cases may not).

7 yrs we roamed all over the USA.

Had morning TV ----news --local/national most every day via my crankup Batwing Winegard OTA antenna

Had Internet most every day via Verizon Air Card

NEVER choose a CG based on amenities.........based on location and cost....preferably low cost. It was a place to park FW and sleep. Cgs were never a destination ---the area was which is where we spent majority of time....exploring the area

IF you NEED TV, Internet etc.......lots of ways to provide it now that wasn't so readily available 10 yrs ago/5 yrs ago.
So be self sufficient.
