Actually I don't really think the name "Pictured Rocks" should be the true name as a description either as it's much more than just rocks. It's mostly all sheer beautiful varying colors high cliffs dropping down to the pure blue/green sometimes irridescent Lake Superior waters with so many features and shapes along it's many miles long span in brilliant contrasting colors and hues. The water is so clear you can see even more in the depths. Miner's Castle is very unique as are the tunnels thru the limestone walls. Very hard to describe in words all the various different formations you see including the waterfalls down the sides especially from a boat. The tour boats go 18 miles before they turn around.
