I live about seventy miles from the Black Rock Desert. That thing has been going on for more than 20 years, I have never been. There is no way I would subject my family to the degenerates that attend that "festival."
It's not a family atmosphere. And I find your name calling of "degenerates" very rude. No, i've never been there. And no, I will probably never go. But to call people names because they choose to do something or go somewhere on their own free will and possibly enjoy it, is shallow. Oops...didn't mean to call you a name like that. I apologize. - GjacExplorer III

Sounds like Woodstock with dust instead of mud.
I would love to experience it, probably once. I was just a bit too young for the'60's, and burning man seems to represent the best of that movement. - gdreeseExplorerEverything worked out fantastic. Water held out great, I have 90 gallon freshwater tank that will last us a month.

"Now that is just far too many people for my comfort. My demophobia would kick in big time" This is what my friend said. But that is what she said after seeing an aerial view of Quartzite too. Myself, I really wouldn't care to go to any gathering that large either, but for different reasons. - dave54NomadI have neighbors that go every year, for at least the last 10 years.
They claim they have not bought a ticket yet and have had no problem getting in and participating. Since the tickets are several hundred dollars they are saving a bunch of money. - SteeljagExplorerI think it would be a fun weekend! When wanting to relax, nothing better than people watching with a drink or three! All except the dust!!
- knshookExplorerMany years ago as we were making our way to Eastern Sierras we passed numerous cars that looked like they got caught in the middle of a pyroclastic flow. We honestly wondered if there had been some sort of natural disaster. We found out later that they were people returning from the first Burning Man. The next year we were invited to attend with friends-but we lived the 60's,that was enough!

This is an actual event?, I thought the photo was of a junk yard, no way would I go to that.
Might be great for some folks...but not me. Too many people (crazies) in one place at the same time.
Nothing to do with age, I wouldn't go there if I was 20, just WAY too many people.
