Are we the only campers getting frusterated?

I am posting trying to figure out if I need a heavy dose of pixie dust or are other campers getting frusterated. We are getting really tired of the way campgounds are treating campers both customer service and in the wallet. We look at campsite like we are renting a piece of grass and the electric, sewer and water so we can enjoy our vacation. So once we pay the fee if we don't cause a problem we should be able to live our life. Much like renting a condo or Air B&B. Our 5th wheel is like our house and if I want to have a friend over I should be able to.

The place we just stayed at was $50 a night, for 2 people. If anyone else was going to stay the night it was $2.50 per-person, if you wanted a visitor to stop by $2.00 per person. If they drove and needed a parking pass it was $5. fIf you wanted to run your air-conditioning or heater it was an additional $2.50 per-night. If you needed the honey wagon if it was M-Th $15 if it was F-Su $20. The sites were alternating so we had to share the yard with another camper our doors faced eachother. We were unable to get our awning out because the sites were too close togehter, there were no firepits. To add to the frustration they had softball leagues that ran out of the campground fields and M-Th there were 20-25 car parked on every inch of grass for practice and F-Su 50-75 cars for the games. People could not even leave their sites without having the owner find people and have cars moved.

Are we the only ones that are feeling this way?

  • That definitely sounds like a campground that is going the way of the airlines. Yep you have a spot for x dollars. everything and everything after that is an additional fee. I'm just glad I have tons of free camping within an hour and a half of me. Otherwise I think I would have probably sold my trailer by now.

  • I have never seen a campground that bad, but if I checked in and the sites were that small for 50 bucks I would have got a refund and left.

We usually check out camps beforehand.

       - Websites have pricing or you can email. Worst case give them a call.

       - Google maps/Streetview, you can get an idea what the sites look like. Also handy if you have starlink to see if you have a clear view of the sky.

       - Online reviews sites provide a lot of feedback on how the place is run or if there are surprises.

Not saying we've never arrived and been disappointed but if there are issues, we usually are aware of them before we pull in.

We would have given anything to be able to leave but our daughter was shooting in the USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals so we were stuck! It just seems to be getting worse.
