We have always stayed at Bear Creek and loved it. A little crowded, but some sites have super views, and it's location is hard to beat. Our last trip there in July, we explored other area parks. You MUST see Mama Gertie's to believe it. It's in Black Mountain, about 10 miles outside Asheville, but close to everything you'll want to do in Asheville.
The new mountainside sites are nothing short of spectacular!. Unobstructed views of the Smokies. Lushly landscaped, with private decks, swings and fire rings looking out over the Swannanoah Valley.
A pretty steep pull up to these sites, but very good roads and plenty of room to maneuver. Once you're up there, WOW!
