Asheville NC

Would like to find a nice campground in the Asheville area. Plan to go in October.
Looking for suggestions. Some of the places we've checked on are already full!
  • If you like a full service park you could try the Asheville West KOA. It is small, just a mom and pop operation and was very quiet in July, I am betting it is dead in the fall. It is located literally on the side of a mountain, the view is amazing. It is an easy drive into Asheville, the Blue Ridge Pkwy is just a few miles away and it is not far from Smokey Mtn NP.
  • We stayed at Taps over Halloween - decent, centrally located, reasonable price. Would go again. ST
  • That's "leaf viewing prime time", so good luck finding anything open this late.
