Would like to find a nice campground in the Asheville area. Plan to go in October. Looking for suggestions. Some of the places we've checked on are already full!

That's "leaf viewing prime time", so good luck finding anything open this late.

We stayed at Taps over Halloween - decent, centrally located, reasonable price. Would go again. ST

If you like a full service park you could try the Asheville West KOA. It is small, just a mom and pop operation and was very quiet in July, I am betting it is dead in the fall. It is located literally on the side of a mountain, the view is amazing. It is an easy drive into Asheville, the Blue Ridge Pkwy is just a few miles away and it is not far from Smokey Mtn NP.

I'd recommend either Campfire Lodgings or Mama Gerties.
