I am not sure if it is too far north of where you want to stay, but we really like the San Elijo State Beach near Encinitas. It is a nice park with some full hookup sites. Half of the park is on a lower level with easy access to the beach. The other sites are on a bluff where you take stairs down to the beach. Within the park is a great fish taco stand.
