- Kentucky_JoeExplorerWe stayed at Bar Harbor cg and loved it and the location. The price was great and we liked that we could pick our own site. We had a site with an awesome view. We were there in middle of June for a week and there were plenty of places. We were told they hardly ever get full and I think July was most full. We would definitely go back. There are plenty of other cg in area if you happen to get there and they are full. I would take the chance!
- southernsnowExplorerWeathershak,
I am interested to see your post as I have been on line for a few nights and have had the Maine camping guide in my lap as I try to choose from the vast amount of campgrounds. The two that I have narrowed down to are Bar Harbor CG and your recommendation - Mtnview. campground.
We are a considerable distance away so I wonder how easy it is to get a spot at Bar Harbor? I understand the cash only, no reservation - does that make it possible to just drive up and get a spot?
I thought Mtnview. Looked peaceful. We have a 40' FW. Would we have views from the upper spots?
Thanks so much if you can give me any insights - I'm trying to plan for next summer. Have a great day,
Marie - weathershakExplorerI have been to Bar Harbor many times over the years and stayed at the KOA Ocean front and Bar Harbor CG. I tried something different last year and enjoyed it. We stayedHERE and enjoyed it very much. It was far enough away from the crazy Bar Harbor traffic. We enjoyed spending time at Schoodic and points north up to Eastport etc. The CG is simple. The sites at the enterance are full hookup and you still get a nice view. You are steps away from great fresh lobster, fresh seafood and great ice cream at Traceys. You will be about 50 minutes from Bar Harbor if you take the shortcut to bypass Ellsworth. Enjoy your trip.
- GeoBoyExplorerWe always stay at the Bar Harbor KOA but their prices are getting outrageous for what they offer. The showers can be hit or miss and they only offer a few pull thru sites. Being on the ocean is nice but not for what they are charging. We are going to give Smugglers Den a try, they have a nice facility.
- livelylittlecamExplorerThanks for the replies!
- SubVetExplorerWe've stated at the KOA as well as Mt Desert Narrows and Narrows Too. They are all nice but I believe the Narrows are over priced. Even more than the KOA. I will be giving the cash only Bar Harbor Campground a try next time.
- fil564ExplorerWe did Hadley's Point last year and it was close to everything and a quiet enjoyable stay.
- dbblsExplorerWe stayed at the "Pumpkin Patch" in Herman. Very nice clean park and cost was very reasonable. Not too far from Acadia.

Call and ask for Rain. Family owned and on the free bus route. - GaryWTExplorerWe have stayed at Hadley Point a couple times and have liked it. Close to everything and easy to get to. Make reservation, I would not drive here without knowing there is a place for me. Have fun.
