We have only stayed at Ocean Lakes so can't compare to others, but we loved it. We do go after Labor Day so it is not as crowded. We get that golf carts are really great for people w/ physical issues, but don't understand the fascination with golf carts for everyone else, but to each his own.
Cruising on the strip at night is fun. The teenagers usually make it comical for us. It's nice to see all the different golf carts and what people do them (customize and decorate). If you don't have a golf cart, you probably don't see a lot of Ocean Lakes. Part of the fun is riding around and looking at other peoples rigs and how they set up. You will be amazed and things you will see and never knew existed. Or ideas that you never thought of. Also, if you are at one end of the park and want to go to the other side where the pool is, it makes no sense to drive a car (or esepcially a truck) over there. First of all, parking is very limited. You can ride a bike or walk. But i've walked it. Plan on the extra time and hope it doesnt rain on you. We've taken our bikes before, but never really ride them around.
Also, much easier to take your laundry over to the laundrymat or go pick up things at the store there.
If one has physical issues, then they probably needed one of those electric mobility scooters, rather than a golf cart.
