There is a great state park out of Bloomfield. Navajo Dam SP. You have to cross the dam to get to it. It has beautiful views of the lake which is home to a great many houseboats. The views of the mountains are great. DH loves to fly fish there. If you have any golfers, , Piñon Hills in Farmington is a great little course. Ther are some really good ruins to visit in Bloomfield too. Durango is about an hr. away and is a good day trip, raft rides, etc.
And the fishing below the dam is world class.
