- CdashExplorerI agree with the rest. Yellowstone is so big that unless you stay in the different campgrounds within the park you end up spending all your time driving. Especially when you factor in animal traffic jams. The first day: "wow, it's elk and bison, stop so we can watch". Day 7 "crud, traffic is stopped to look at the stupid animals"
We stayed at the different campgrounds in the park and worked the area in quadrants. Still ended up driving way too much, but it was absolutely beautiful!! - tsetsafExplorer IIIgarryearl I found this webinar to be amazingly useful Webinar about best places to camp in Yellowstone
In addition that same site has the best information on parks Yellowstone - What kind of rig?
Cody is too far!
Fishing bridge is only one with hook ups. The sites are close Need reservations.
Madison is great place to do loops around park. Takes a good day for each one.
Need reservation.
We stay at Madison or West Yellowstone at Buffalo Crossing. Yes, it takes some time to get to Madison junction to do loops. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIHere are some photos of Fishing Bridge RV in Yellowstone. To me, it's not a parking lot. Look at all the trees. :) I've seen worse throughout our travels.
To the OP: if you need full hookups, Fishing Bridge is the place. Madison or Bridge Bay are nice if you don't need hookups.
Don't try to stay in Cody and tour Yellowstone from there. It's too much slow driving.
Don't forget to stay in Grand Teton Nat'l Park which is right next to Yellowstone to the south. It's completely different - something like a miniature Alps.
In the Tetons, the full hookups RV is Colter Bay RV. There are also dry campgrounds.
Have a great trip!
http://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/lodging/camping/fishing-bridge-rv-park/ - Two_HandsExplorerWhen visiting Yellowstone National Park our favorite campground is Fishing Bridge RV Campground. It is our choice because it is in the park and has full hookups. The sites are close together, it is crowded, and it is a bit like a parking lot. But we sure like it and have stayed there several times over the years.
- BB_TXNomadNearly 100 miles to center of Yellowstone NP from Cody. "Best" depends on whether you want a full hookup site, partial hookup, or no hookups.
- mikimExplorerIn Cody, WY we like the Ponderosa campground. Do not miss the wild horse preserve outside of town on the BLM land.
To visit Yellowstone National Park we like Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT. - lbrjetExplorerLong drive from Cody everyday. Stay in the park or in West Yellowstone.
- Dick_BExplorerSearch this forum for Yellowstone in the RV Parks section.
