- SquealersExplorerI booked Sun N Fun. Was the only park with a vacancy (2 left out of 1500!!!) so I grabbed it. May be a bit of a drive to the Pirates Spring Training facility but that's not a bad trade off. Thanks for everyone's recommendations.
- FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerFWIW: We enjoyed Oscar Scherar State Park, Osprey (a little south of Sarasota). Like the rustic campsites, and not far from all amenities entrance being right on the 41. Rates very good with electric. Dumpstation no sewer hook ups AFAIR from 2005 and 2009 & 2010.
- joe_b_Explorer IIAs Jim mentioned, Sun N' Fun is our first choice of a campground in that area. It has to be one of the largest private campgrounds in Florida. Very popular with the winter snowbirds. It does seen to have everything, including the best equipped wood working shop I have ever seen at a campground, both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, computer club room, and I believe all known outdoor activities. The place is very well run as well.
My mother in law lives in Sarasota at an independent living center so we take our RV, to stay in while visiting her. The location, just east of the Interstate is perfect for us. - SquealersExplorerBob, I am headed down there mid March to watch some Pirates play pre-season ball in Bradenton. Looking for a place for a week as well. I will check out some of the recommendations posted here, but if you find a hum dinger, let me know!
Good luck and see ya on the road.
Keith - the_figExplorerThanks to all that replied. Great info. Bob

If you want a RESORT then I would suggest Holiday Cove in Bradenton. Very nice place... paver driveways, some sites have a dock along the canal, bathrooms are impeccable, pool is very nice and it has a boat launch. I stayed there once, rates were $110 or $130 a night... can't remember which.
If you just want a really nice RV park in the Bradenton area we LOVE Buttonwood Inlet. It is very close to the Gulf, nice sites in the back side of the park (though a little close together) good bathrooms and a nice pool. Its literally a 10 minute walk or 3 minute bike ride down Cortez Rd to the Gulf and GORGEOUS Anna Maria Island.
Excellent input. Thanks neighbor! - JoeHExplorer III

We also like Buttonwood. Another place we really like is Venice Campground on the Myakka River. If you are 35' or under, Turtle Beach CG in Sarasota is right on the beach.. county took it over from a private owner a few years ago . - BigDog235ExplorerYou could check out Sarasota Lakes RV Resort, 1674 University Parkway, Sarasota, Florida. 34243
They have full hook ups, wifi, pool, check out the web-site. - spoon059Explorer IIIf you want a RESORT then I would suggest Holiday Cove in Bradenton. I think it's a county park.
