Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to solve something we forget the "nose on our face". Duh...I have an ipad. Didn't even think about using it for downloading the movies we want to watch prior to going. We, of course, won't have internet at Cades Cove. Thanks for that idea.
We do have a generator but it is one of the "knock off" brands and DH hates to use it. We have 2 deep cycle batteries and DH is thinking of trying the method someone mentioned of using the heavy duty battery cables to parallel the batteries from the "Beast" (our tow vehicle) as well as robbing our golf cart of 2 batteries and bringing them along. He just purchased a new battery charger...supposedly a quick charge/super charge model...should be for what the thing cost.
I just changed out all the bulbs for LED and we also purchased two LED lanterns for use as well.
I love the HP laptop idea as well. May have to steal daughter's laptop and get some usage from that as well.
Also, like the idea of "stealing" some electricity from the NPS to charge the batteries.
We are pretty good at conserving energy as we made it for 5 days on 2 batteries last time without using the generator to recharge them. However, I must admit, I was concerned the slides would not go back in we were running so low by the time we left. Hoping the LEDs and other things mentioned will help.
Thanks again for all the ideas.
