I wouldn't say usb 3.0 is plenty fast enough. It's 4.8 Gbps peak. It will never do that at a continuous streaming rate. 1080p has a bandwidth of 4.46 Gbps. Compare that to HDMI which has a 18 Gbps bandwidth. USB is serial. It will never be as fast as the many parallel wires of HDMI.
