Bilioxi, MS camping suggestions

We'll be heading from VA to New Orleans for New Years driving down the gulf coast. We're planning on spending a few days in Bilioxi and are looking for suggestions on a good campground. We'd like to be close to 90 and not far from dining and shopping areas. I've read some reviews online but would like to get any suggestions you good folks might have. Thanks

  • we have stayed several times at the Cajun rv park. nice park. sometimes you an hear some railroad noise that runs north of it, but is hardly noticeable.
    their number is 228-388-5590.
  • OK, we stayed at Majestic Oaks both ways, to and from Beaumont. Our assessment? The answer illustrates the difficulty of trying to assign a single point value to what really involves a multi-dimensional evaluation. The campground is basically a parking lot, with no sense of privateness between sites, which means for me it would rate only a "6" as a starting point. But it is nicely landscaped, the clientele are friendly and upscale (many snowbirds), the restrooms are clean, the pool is nice, and the staff is helpful. So, add something. On the other hand, the area of town is rough (like in, "Don't go outside the gate at night"), the sites are bare (not even a picnic table), the WiFi is slow during high volume periods, and the cable TV is without a doubt the worst I've ever seen. So, deduct something, almost as much as got added in the first place. Bottom line: I'd give this a "7" overall, recording it as a place I'd stay again for an overnight stop but not as a place to stay for any length of time. Hope that helps.

We're headed from Atlanta to Beaumont and back later this week and I've booked reservations at Majestic Oaks RV Resort. I haven't stayed there yet, but I did a fair amount of research and Majestic Oaks gets pretty good reviews here: rvparkreviews.com: Majestic Oaks. I'll follow up after we get back and let you know if the reviews are accurate.

  • Davis Bayou Campground in Ocean Springs part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. If you are of advanced age :) or disabled the with the appropriate federal pass the rate is 50% off $22/night for a water and electric site. It's a few miles across the bay from Biloxi off US90, we spent two nights there this past March.
  • We just returned from a 2 week trek from Panama City, FL to Palmetto Island SP, LA. Buccaneer SP is nice, but we much preferred Davis Bayou Campground. Davis is a national park and very nice, small and pretty full when we were there, but very nice and closer to Biloxi. Wonderful facilities and shower house. Would go back there in a heart beat.
  • Hollywood Casino RV park in Bay St.Louis is very nice and not too far down the beach.
  • You could try searching this Forum for `Biloxi' in the RV Parks section.
  • Cajun RV park is on Hwy 90. Walk across street to beach. We've stayed there and it is alright.
  • If you want to go a little further toward NO, Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS is a favorite of mine and meets your requirements.
