Birmingham, AL - for Barber Vintage Festival

I'm hoping to get to the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival Oct 10-12 this year. Any recommendations reasonably nearby for a full hookup site that will accommodate a 43ft motorhome pulling a pickup ?
Thanks !

Saw some good reviews, it looks like it used to be a KOA from the photos

The Pelham CG is an OK place, but I would stay at Lakeside Landing in Pell City. The reason being.....a much easier drive to and from the race track. Happy camping................
  • I would also dry camp at the track and have done it before. We were in a tent but some friends were in an RV. They were in a parking lot on a hill above the pits with a great view.

Can't help you regarding campgrounds in the area.

Got to agree it is a great place. We were there the first year they opened. Was at the old museum in town previously. The old one was nothing compared to the new one.
  • I'd stay at the track and dry camp if there are no hook ups (which I have done on several occasions in my tent and in my toy hauler).

It's much more fun camping at the track. Hopefully, you have a motorcycle or two to run around on (highly recommended).

    STAY AT THE TRACK

Try to meet Mr Barber. He'll usually be in the museum Meeting & Greeting.

  • Look at Lakeside Landing RV Park in Pell city. I feel this will be your best place. We camp here often. Its a very nice place.
  • If you go as far as Oxford you might want to consider River Country Campground in Gadsden AL. It is on the river and you can get a big rig site that pulls right up to the river with full hook ups. You can jump on interstate and the Track is about 55 minutes away which is about the same as Oxford will be. Check out rivercountrycampground.com

Thanks for the info.... I'll look into Riverside also. We drove thru there a few years ago and I remember a few CG's on the lake. We also stopped at Barber to check out the collection while at the races in Talladega. I figured the Festival would be a good time and a great time of the year to be there.
  • Oak Mountain SP is a great place to stay, sites fit our 40' fiver with truck parked parallel to road. The KOA in Oxford is new and is a bare bones campground, backs up to I20 so you will hear traffic. Not many campgrounds close to Barbers. Check Riverside,AL, sits off of I20 East of Barbers and sits on the lake. They have a couple of small campgrounds there that might fit your RV. Have fun, its a great place to visit and there is a Bass Pro Shop and a new mall at the same exit.
  • This maybe of some interest to you?
