boondock site for popoup near Allagash Wilderness, Maine

We are planning a 16 day trip through Maine this summer with multiple stops. One stop is a hike to the locomotives in the woods at Eagle lake. It will be a 5 hours drive to get there and 2.5 more...

This might give you some leads. Last time I was up there, access to the Northwoods and it's dispersed sites can get a bit expensive for rustic camping.
